Kira - Kira

Spoiler Alert!!

Kira- Kira is about a Japanese family that moves from a Japanese community in Iowa to deep South in Georgia. Katie is the youngest of two daughters. Her sisters name is Lynn. Lynn teaches everything to Katie. Lynn tells Katie that they're moving, she tells her why no-one will want to talk to her at her new school and other important things she needs to know. Lynn is very smart and knows so much. Katie and her sister are like best friends. Katie looks up to Lynn. But when Lynn becomes very ill, Katie has to find a way to remind her family that there is always something glittering in the future.

Kira- Kira means glittering; shinning. Katie describes the sky as Kira- Kira because of its color is deep yet see-through. She also describes the sea and people's eyes as Kira-Kira. Kira-Kira is the first word that Katie said.

I think that this is a very good book, but its very easy to read. I liked part when Katie and her sister wish for some selfish things then unselfish things at night. I disliked the part when the mean lady made the family sleep in the back room because they were a different race, but that's how things where back then. I can relate to the part when her stuffed animal Bera Bera talks to her because I have a stuffed animal that is very important to me too.

Characters:
Katie is the little sister, and she has just started 1st grade. She cries very often because that's just the kind of person she is. She loves her sister so much and is always ready to play with her.
Lynn is Katie's older sister. She is very smart and Katie thinks of her as a genius. I think she is like Ursula because they both tried to read the dictionary once and likes to read the encyclopedia.
The dad very hard as in he is very strong and has a hard stomach. He loves his children and will mess around with them when he thinks it apropiate.
Their mom is a very fragile woman and dislikes when things are to wild. She dislikes a number of things as well.
Uncle Katsuhisa is kinda odd to me. He thinks he's great at chess but every time he challenges Lynn to a game, he always looses. He also like to spit. He's very good at spiting and once tried to teach the girls how to do it as well as he could.

My Sisters Keeper #2

Spoiler Alert!!

So, I started off this time from the second time Anna narrates the story. It starts off in the hospital and then her mother gets the papers about Anna sewing her and her husband. The papaers say, The State of Rhode Island And Providence Plantations, on the top, then, Family Court For Providence Country. In RE. Anna Fitzgerald, A.K.A. Jane Doe. Petition For Medical Emancipation. Then it goes on with Kate telling Anna that if she doesn't want to be her sister than that's one thing but she doesn't want to lose her as a friend. Also, Anna's parents think she's sewing them so she can get attention. Then it goes on to Sara narrating the story. It goes back to 1990 when Kate is being diagnosed with APL and what all will happen. They test Jesse to see if he's a match for an allogeneic transplant. He's not. So then Kate goes through Chemo. She gets sick one day and her parents take her to the ER. When the parents are sitting in Kate's room, Sara comes up with a plan. She wants to have another baby.

I think that in the next section that Sara narrates, she will talk about how the doctors made it possible a.k.a. the procedure, for one of their eggs to be a match for Kate. Also, during the next time Anna narrates, I think she will talk about what has happened in her life with all this drama going on. I saw that next is narrated by Campbell and I think that him and Anna will talk about what to do about the situation and see if she still wants to continue with it. When Brian narrates the story again I think he will give his opinion about the sewing and stuff.

Here are some of my opinions on things. I think that Anna has a right to make decisions on whether or not she wants to donate to her sister or not. But I also think that she should donate to her sister since she loves her and that she shouldn't want her sister to die. This is a very moving and inspirational book. It lets you know how people feel when they go through this kind of thing. Also, what they go through every day.

My Sister's Keeper

Spoiler Alert?? I'm not quite sure if this spoils anything.

Ok, so now I'm reading My Sister's Keeper. It's really good so far! Here's the summary.

My Sister's Keeper is about a family that has a child named Kate with APL, which is a type of leukemia, and another daughter named Anna who they use to give Kate transplants, bone marrow, and so on. Anna's parents still over her though. Now Anna is beginning to wonder who she truly is. She has undergone countless surgeries, transfusions and shots. Anna has found a lawyer named Mr. Campbell. She wants to sew her parents for the rights of her own body. Without Anna to give Kate a kidney, Kate will die.

I think that overall, so far this book is very good. I really like how it's narrated. At first it was kinda confusing for me to understand but I got used to it easily. I think that the author made a good decision about how to narrate the book. The book is narrated in first person but every chapter it switches off from who's narrating the story and whats going on from their point of view. If their was anything I could change about this book, it would be having Kate narrate a few chapters.

Cathing Fire 2!!

Spoiler Alert! Spoiler Alert! (There aren't many spoilers in here, but if you read this post you will learn about the second half of Catching Fire, and the last line. Don't read this post if you don't want the rest of the book to be spoiled. If you are reading this book and haven't gotten to the end, don't read the post.)

Now its time to go onto the rest of Catching Fire. Now, were did I leave off? Right, at the peacekeepers at Katniss's house. BTW I'm gonna do this blog a little differently, at least I'll try to.

Here's a brief summary of the rest of the book.

Katniss has photo shoots in her wedding dresses and at night on TV they show her in them. That night, they also reveal what the "special" thing for the Quarter Quell will be. The "special" thing is that they will draw names of victors. Katniss and Peeta are going to go back to the Games and compete again. Also, the arena is like a clock. Both Katniss and Peeta come out alive, but Peeta is unsafe in the hands of the Capitol.

I think that Suzanne Collins has very good books and that she is a great writer. She uses very good description. I like the way she describes things because she gives you guidelines of how she wants the scene, character, etc. to look or feel, but then lets the rest be yours and your imagination. I also like the way she makes everyone in the story have someone else to kinda relate to in the story.

Characters:
  • Katniss is brave and loving. She will do anything to keep her sister safe. Katniss loves to hunt and that's what she will usually do when she needs to be alone.
  • Peeta, to me, has unconditional love. He will do anything to keep Katniss safe. He is the bakers son, and is a great artist.
  • Gale is one of Katniss's friends. He's her "Cousin."
  • Prim is Katniss's sister and is helpful with trying to cure wounds. She is devastated when her sister has to go to The Games.
  • Haymitch won one of the Quarter Quells. He loves to drink and that's what he does for most of his life. Also, he is Katniss's and Peeta's mentor.
  • Cinna is Katniss's main prep person. He designs her magnificent clothing and also "helps" Katniss with her talent.

I disliked the end of the book, because i didn't like were I was left off. I think she put to much suspense in it and then to make it even more suspenseful, the 3rd book doesn't even come out until August! To refresh, the last line of the book was " Katniss, there is no District Twelve."

Well, that's it for this book! Come read my posts again soon. The next post will be about My Sisters Keeper. TaTa for now.

Catching Fire!!

Spoiler Alert, Spoiler Alert (Don't read this post if your reading or are going to read Catching Fire. It's OKAY to read this post if you've finished this book or have gotten past chapter 12.)

( Catching Fire is the sequel to the Hunger Games.)

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins is about a girl named Katniss, who was a victor of the seventy-forth hunger games. Both Katniss and Peeta won that year, but there was only supposed to be one winner. Since Katniss caused people to want to rebel against the capitol, she is in deep trouble. She has to show Panem (North America) that she is desperately in love with Peeta.

Since Peeta proposed to Katniss, she had a lot of photo shoots in in wedding dresses. One night, on TV,they show all of Katniss's dresses, and then, announced the "special" thing for the Quarter Quell. Katniss must fight for her life once again, but instead she's trying to save Peeta's.

I think that this is an awesome book and that everyone should read it. Even thought I've only gotten about half way through the book, I can still blog about a million things. So I'm going to start at the beginning with President Snow.

President Snow came to Katniss's house before the very cruel Victory Tour. He told Katniss that some districts were trying to rebel because of her and her act with the berries. She needs to prove on this tour that she was lost in their love (Katniss and Peeta). I despise President Snow. Well, that's about all to say for that subject so lets move on.

The Victory Tour! The first stop is District 11. That's the district Rue and Thresh came from. (Rue was Katniss's alli for the time being until she got killed by a guy from District 1. Thresh, saved Katniss's life life.) So, during the speeches that they wrote, Peeta added some thing that wasn't on his written one. This was that Rue's and Thresh's family would get one months worth of their winnings every year. Then, Katniss thanked Rue's and Thresh's family. That was a touching Part. So, this is getting kinda boring so lets keep moving.

At the Capitol, there is a big party and the new head gamemaker is Plutarch Heavensbee. He shows Katniss a watch with a Mockingjay. Now why would he do that?

So, one day, when Gale and Katniss were out in the woods they got some game. Gale was going to go trade it all. When he went to Old Cray's (the head peacekeeper) house to give him a wild turkey, guess who shows up? A new head peacekeeper. Peeta made up a story of why he had it and was punished with public lashes. When Katniss sees that Gale is being whipped and she goes to try to save him. Some how, Gale's punishment gets to be less whips and some people bring him to Katniss's mom so she can fix him up. Did I mention that now Katniss has a big whip line across one of her cheeks. Some people bring Gale to Katniss's mom so she can fix him up. Wow, that was a lot to take in.

One day, Katniss decides to go back into the forest. She goes to the lake and in the little house there is smoke coming out of the chimney. Then she hears something. She finds a lady with a peacekeepers uniform on and a gun. Then the lady holds out a cracker with a mockingjay on it. She also hears something else a few moments after. Katniss tells the lady to come around and she does. There names are Twill and Bonnie. Bonnie limps bacause she twisted her ankle. Twill and Bonnie tell Katniss that they have run away from District 8. Twill stole the uniforms from the factory and it took a long time to get them. A shoe here, some pants there. They're headed for District 13 because they find things suspicious from what they see on TV. They show the same clip every time and they know this because the wing of a mockingjay always shows up on the upper right corner. Katniss doesn't believe them but goes with the flow. Oh, and by the way Katniss leaves all the food she has with Twill and Bonnie. Ahhhh, so suspenseful!

When Katniss heads back, and gets to the fence she hears a buzzing noise kinda like the tracker jackers. The electric fence is on and she can't take chances going under. Katniss Goes from tree to tree and then finally gets to a tree that she can get over the fence with. Katniss slowly inches her way down and jumps into a snow bank. YIKES! Katniss is hurt now.

Katniss trudges home and when she gets home she finds peacekeepers at her house. They want to Know where she has been and whats in her bag. Katniss says, "Easier to ask were I haven't been." So she tell them that she hasn't been talking to the Goat Man about getting Prims goat pregnant because she gave Katniss inaccurate information. Katniss dumps out the bag for the peacekeepers to find candy and white clothe. The peacekeepers tell Katniss that the electric fence will be on 247 and that she should pass it on to Gale. Ha, Katniss sure fooled the peacekeepers.

Well, that's all for today. Hope you enjoyed the blog and that it wasn't to boring for ya!
